Woman blasts Coles after confrontation

A frustrated shopper accused of stealing a capsicum at a Coles self-service checkout has taken to social media to unleash her rage at the supermarket giant’s poor customer service.
Jade Zane recently ducked into the store to grab a couple of items, by the time she reached the checkout her hands were full and there were only self-service registers available.
She put everything down on the weight section, scanned her items and when she only had two items left she picked up the zucchini and entered the capsicum code before the machine stopped working.
Ms Zane called a Coles staff member who came over to help her, when he scanned the machine it brought up a video of what she had done.
She said the staff member then accused her of “trying to steal” which he said could be seen on the self-service video.
He eventually apologised to the woman and said, “oh sorry you are right,” after she explained to him that she was holding the zucchini while scanning the capsicum.
“Who the f … k are you to accuse someone of stealing if you have not seen it first,” Ms Zane said.
“Also, if you do not want people to steal open a cash register where people actually get served, that would be a great idea.”
The video has gone viral receiving more than one thousand comments from shoppers equally frustrated sharing similar experiences at the self-service check-outs.
“Coles camera always picks up my handbag as a roast chook,” one person said.
“I went to Coles in Victoria Gates, wouldn’t open to get in until I looked up as I had a baseball cap on,” another person commented.
“I’m sick of the people that work there hovering behind me and staring at me while I’m doing their job and scanning my groceries,” a person said.
“The camera always flags my child sitting in the trolley as an unscanned item, my child,” another wrote.
“That would have been the last straw, as soon as he said your stealing, I would have left everything and walked off,” one person said.
“Coles and Woolies treat their customers like peasants, we all queue up to scan and bag our own items while they stare at us like potential thieves,” another commented.
