‘Terrifying’: Miss World Australia Jasmine Stringer allegedly attacked outside shopping centre

Miss World Australia has recalled the “terrifying” moment she and a group of young pageant contestants were allegedly attacked outside a Gold Coast shopping centre.
Jasmine Stringer and the group of pageant hopefuls were allegedly forced to fend off a female attacker outside the Southport Park Shopping Centre around 6pm on Friday.
The group were waiting for a taxi after finishing a catwalk training session at the centre’s gymnasium when the woman allegedly began physically and verbally attacking them.
‘Traumatised’
Miss World Australia director Deborah Miller, told news.com.au she was walking out of the centre with her 14-year-old daughter, Sienna-Rose Jerak, and her assistant when she received a phone call from some of the girls claiming they had been attacked outside.
“Her hair was been ripped out and one of the mothers who was out there was trying to untangle her hair,” she told news.com.au.
As Ms Miller walked out of the building, she claimed the woman then spotted the trio and allegedly started chasing them.
“It was disgusting,” she lamented.
She said the incident, which she never imagined would have occurred in a family friendly place like the Gold Coast, has left herself “traumatised”.
“We live in Los Angeles … But we’ve never seen this kind of aggression and anger from someone,” Ms Miller said.
The group managed to jump into Jasmine’s car where they phoned police.
“I felt like it was a ‘nothing incident’ like it happens all the time or something,” Ms Miller added.
She claimed police did not turn up in the 20 minutes before they fled the area.
Queensland Police told news.com.au a 46-year-old Southport woman has been charged following the alleged disturbance.
Police said they attended Ferry Road, Southport, on Friday following reports of a fight in a carpark and located the woman who was taken into custody.

She has been given a notice to appear for committing public nuisance and is due to appear in court next month.
In the meantime, Ms Miller said additional security measures would be implemented to protect future participants.
“We need to make sure there is enough security. Do we need to bring our own with us? (These are thing) we never thought about before. Is it getting more dangerous here?’
