‘Murder’: Vandals target Premier’s office

Written by on June 3, 2024

NSW Premier Chris Minns is the latest political leader to have his office attacked by vandals who sprayed the word “murder” and covered the building in red paint overnight.

Pictures from the scene have captured the extent of the vandalism – with the Kogarah office sprayed with red paint and graffiti that read “murder” overnight.

It is understood pro-Palestine protesters are believed to be responsible for the attack.

NSW Police have established a crime scene at the Premier’s office and are investigating.

Mr Minns has since hit back at the vandals, saying they had a certain amount of “arrogance” to break the law and graffiti the offices of political officials across the country.

“Ultimately, it is obviously just a waste of time and money and it is irritating,” he said.

“But not much more than that.”

Mr Minns said the Gaza conflict was a complex issue but the state government’s focus had always been on community cohesion and peace in NSW.

“I am not responsible for places around the world, particularly in the Middle East,” he said.

“What I am responsible for is peace right here in Sydney and this state and that’s what our approach to this complex issue has always been.”

“Yes you have a right, an absolute right to protest, but you also have a responsibility to treat other people that live in this city with respect.”

Earlier this year, pro-Palestine supporters disrupted NSW parliament which was forced to briefly shut down before being removed by security.

They erupted into chants of: “Shame on you, Chris Minns”; “Sanction Israel” and “Labor’s hands are red”.

Protesters also caused chaos at the Sydney Mardi Gras Parade when they barged into the parade ahead of the NSW Premier, which resulted in eight people being arrested.
