Melbourne billionaire’s wild revenge on intruders

A Melbourne billionaire has given a brazen intruder a taste of his own medicine after catching two men breaking into his $40 million penthouse.

Adrian “Lambo” Portelli confronted one of the intruders who he caught breaking into his apartment in the early hours of Monday morning.

The 35-year-old businessman decided to turn the tables on one of the men by visiting his home on Tuesday.

“We are at the front of one of the guy’s houses that broke into the penthouse,’ he told his Instagram followers.

“He’s continued being a smart a*** online so I ended up finding out his address. I’ve come to his house and knocked on his door.”

The father said the man ran into his bedroom when he confronted him.

“He showed his face and sprinted into his room. Mate c’mon,” he said.

“If you want to show up uninvited to people’s houses I’ll do the same thing to you. F***ing weak dog.”

Mr Portelli uploaded a picture of two Victoria Police squad cars attending the scene.

“We’re making progress,” he wrote on the photo.

“Break-ins need to be taken more seriously in this country.”

One of the intruders sent Mr Portelli an Instagram message and offered to work for him for free, in the hopes of making amends.

“I’m sorry. I know it was the wrong thing to do. I was aiming for the roof and apologies for invading your space,” the man wrote.

“I’d be glad to work for you for free for the next month to fix my wrongdoings.”

Mr Portelli has denied that the alleged break-in was a ‘publicity stunt’.

“It’s definitely not a set-up. I’ve got better things to do,” he told A Current Affair on Monday, adding that he feels ‘unsafe’ after the incident.

“The fact that there’s people wandering around the building who shouldn’t be there is concerning for everyone.”

In the CCTV footage of the break-in, two men can be seen entering the penthouse and inspecting one of Mr Portelli’s luxury cars.

A police spokesperson confirmed that an investigation had been launched into the “trespass incident”.

“It is understood two male offenders gained access to a residence on the corner of Exhibition Street and La Trobe Street and filmed videos, which were later posted onto social media,” the statement read.

“No one was inside the property at the time, and it is not believed anything was stolen at this stage.

“Officers have spoken to the owner and attended the property as they continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident and a similar one last month.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au”

It is not the first break-in that the billionaire has had to deal with this year.

In February, he offered a huge reward to anyone able to identify a group of alleged thieves who broke into his office and left empty-handed.

He shared two CCTV videos of the group inside his office after the intruders entered through a smashed window.

Mr Portelli is well known online for giving away thousands of dollars through his savings subscription, LMCT+, and bidding on properties from The Block.

The car lover has even previously admitted to having “lost count” of how many luxury vehicles he owns.

He was named on the AFR Young Rich List in 2023 with an estimated worth of $1.03 billion.

Mr Portelli’s nickname “The Lambo Guy” was given after he famously had his $3 million McLaren Senna GTR craned 57 storeys off the ground and into his apartment for it to be displayed in his living room.
