A community has been rocked by a double fatality which claimed the lives of an 11-year old girl and her father.
Ivy Hodgess and her father Wade, 45, were killed in a car crash on The Bucketts Way in Tugrabakh, about 10km from Gloucester on the NSW midcoast on Friday.
Brothers Lenix and Vann, aged 8 and 9, were also in the car and had to be rushed to the John Hunter Hospital to undergo surgery.
Police received a report about 1am on Friday with concerns that Mr Hodgess and his children had failed to arrive at a relative’s home.
Officers were told the Mr Hodgess and his children may have been travelling to the home and began an investigation.
About two hours later police found his SUV, which had left the road and gone down an embankment.
Mr Hodgees and his 11-year old daughter were found dead at the scene.
The two boys were trapped in the car for some time, before they were freed by NSW Fire and Rescue and SES crews.
They were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officer established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A family friend Amanda Kendall setup a Go Fund Me page for the family called Forever Eleven in honour of the 11-year old girl.
Ms Kendall said the community of Forster and Tuncurry had been rocked by the news that the “beautiful little” girl was involved in a tragic accident.
She said Ms Hodgess’ mother Simara and her partner Darryn were grieving the loss of their daughter while caring for their other children in hospital.
“We ask upon the community to dig deep and help this family give their little girl a beautiful send off,” she said.
“May Ivy and Wade rest in peace.”
