Luckiest lotto numbers revealed

Written by on August 21, 2024

Australian lottery trends have been revealed ahead of the monster $100m jackpot.

One lucky punter could walk away with a staggering $100m during Thursday’s Powerball as winnings stacked up.

It could mark the third biggest prize of the entire year, as well as the sixth largest in Australian lottery history.

Despite it all coming down to luck, a few winning trends have been spotted.

QuickPick or choose your own numbers?

So far 11 Powerball division one winners have pocketed more than $492m this year, with five wins being in NSW ($210m) four in Queensland ($120m), and one each in South Australia ($150m) and Victoria ($12m).

More than half of the winning entries were QuickPicks, and almost half were PowerHit entries, which is a Powerball entry that guarantees the Powerball number needed to win division one.

Almost half were also small entries of 36 or less.

“Hot” and “Cold” numbers

The main barrel, where seven numbers are drawn from 35, has brought several frequently drawn numbers, including 17, 7, 3 and 9.

The least frequently drawn include 15, 33, 31 and 26.

The power barrel’s most drawn numbers are 2 and 4, while the least frequently drawn ones are 14 and 16.

Postcode hotspots

The luckiest postcodes have also been revealed, with Eli Waters/Urraween in Queensland (4655), Melbourne in Victoria (3000) and the Sydney CBD (2000) having all sold four division one winning entries.

Mitchell in the ACT (2911), Salisbury in South Australia (5108), Casuarina in the Northern Territory (0810) and Burnie in Tasmania (7320) all sold the biggest division one prizes in the respective states and territories.

Bassendean in Western Australia (6054) sold two division one winning entries.

Up to half of Aussie adults are tipped to try their luck at this Thursday’s draw, with The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart calling the jackpot “life-changing”.

More Coverage

“If just one person takes home the entire $100 million prize on Thursday night, they’ll not only receive a substantial boost to their bank account but also share the crown of Australia’s third biggest lottery winner ever,” he said.

“Only five Aussies know what it’s like to win a lottery prize of $100 million or more, but perhaps we’ll add to that tally on Thursday night.

“The idea of winning this life-changing jackpot is sure to get Aussies dreaming big this week.”
